Over the years I have found out many interesting facts about homeschooling. Some funny, some mind blowing and some just simply crazy.

Fact # 1 (More than 20,000 children Home Schooled in Australia)

Prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic there were approximately 20,000 homeschooled children in Australia. This number does not include students enrolled in a Distance Education Program.

Record numbers of children are being homeschooled in Australia. In particular is Queensland where the growth rate has quadrupled in a 5 year period. !!! Wow! They are approximates and sourced.

This does not include distance education students or student doing emergency study due to Covid-19 Restrictions)

Qld – 2013 – 1100 students Qld – 2018- 3200 students

NSW -2013 – 3300 students NSW- 2018 – 4700 students

Vic – 2013 – 3500 students Vic – 2018 – 5300 students

A common question Googled about homeschooling is ” How to make play dough”

Here is a simple recipe for Coffee Playdough ( Its good enough to eat..lol) if you needed to know.

  • 1 Cup of flour
  • 1/2 Cup of salt
  • 1/2 Cup of cold leftover black coffee ( for natural colour) if you want coloured just at Food Colouring a few drops to the mix.
  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl,
  • Knead on a floured surface
  • Store in an airtight container. ( Its smell delicious, you may be tempted to eat it or the kids might)
